You hopefully saw the amazing news that we have two-time Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize winning American singer-songwriter Rhiannon Giddens headlining on Saturday. She’ll bring with her an all-star six piece band starring her partner, the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and jazz musician Francesco Turrisi, and also the legendary four- times Grammy award-winning fiddler and banjo player Dirk Powell, who’s worked with everybody from Joan Baez to Eric Clapton.
“Without doubt one of the most important roots artists of her generation and the most significant booking we’ve ever made” says festival director Mike Kirrage “An absolute coup for us.”
"a revelation", "stellar" The Guardian
Rhiannon presented a fantastic series on BBC Radio4 last year, which you may have missed, on the origins of American roots music. It was a real treat, and you can still catch it on BBC Sounds here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/m0017khr
For a full line-up of acts booked so far see here. Tickets have been selling faster than ever this year, and tier 1 tickets are limited, so get yours before they sell-out and we move to tier 2 at higher prices.
And finally, it's less than 2 weeks to the Daniel Rodriquez concert at Southwell WI hall, on 18th November - with his band and Emma Rose in support.
A few tickets are still available here and if you're wavering, we had a message from the promotor who brought Daniel and the band over from the USA which may persuade you to come along (see below). He has experienced a huge number of incredible acts over the years but says this was "the single most memorable live music event I have ever put on". Quite an endorsement.
That's it for now!

Email from Daniel Rodriguez' promotor:
"Good morning, everyone - I am compelled to send you this message:
I have promoted and worked with some very fine musicians over the years, since first booking artists such as Billy Connolly and Gerry Rafferty as The Humblebums; Hamish Imlach and Rab Noakes, way back in 1967.
In more recent times, via my Brookfield-Knights music agency, my ‘proud moments’ list has grown each year, from representing performers of the calibre of Bronwynne Brent, The Stray Birds, The Mammals, Mike + Ruthy, Greg Trooper, 3hattrio, The Fretless, Sam Reider & The Human Hands, Hoth Brothers, The Hackles, Stereo Naked, Rain of Animals, Cua, May Erlewine, and Väsen.
I am sharing this with you as, last night, I had the ‘proudest moment of them all’ experience, when Daniel Rodriguez and his band came to Kilbarchan Performance Arts Centre in my home village, and played a set so spellbinding, they entranced the entire room. Having already played three shows since arriving here, the feedback had been glowing (from all three promoters).
I have these truly wonderful musicians on tour and they have a total of eleven dates still to come, across the UK. Some of these shows are already sold-out events, which is precisely how it should be, but some of them aren’t.
The musicianship I was treated to last night was sublime. All four combined to transport us to a different place. It was the single most memorable live music event I have ever put on - and there have been hundreds of other gems.
Please let all of those on your mailings lists who have so far been hesitant to book a ticket for this show, know that I make a solemn promise to them all, that they will float home six inches off the ground with a nice warm glow inside, smiling from ear to ear. We made a fine new discovery as well, which turned out to be the icing on the cake: Daniel wanted to bring the singer-songwriter, Emma Rose, across with him from Colorado.
She is special, he said. He was right!"
Sincerely - Loudon Temple, Brookfield-Knights Agency
