Over the Moon

Canadian multi-instramental duo of Craig Bignell and Suzanne Levesque are "the very essence of traditional country-folk at it's finest, soothing for the soul and a glimpse into the ethereal

according to Maverick Magazine.

Living on a ranch in the foothills of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, it’s inevitable there will be a strong sense of place and the music of Over The Moon reflects the pulse of life in a territory that is both dirt-hard rugged and stunningly beautiful. It is a wild ride that takes in styles from 40’s Western Swing and Appalachian Old-Time, to cowboy blues. Authentic and sweetly melodic, all of the material they play has a common thread that speaks of the Canadian west.

We've just announced them for Friday and Saturday.

The Great American Songbook: a quick reminder to have your say.

Thursday is the 4th of July and so, in the tradition of the great GTSF collective concerts that you may have seen here over the years, we'll bring together a series of festival artists to play the classics their way. This will take place on Thursday evening on the FOLK STAGE. Our version will expand to encompass all the great songs of the last 100 years or so, be it blues, jazz, folk, country, rock 'n' roll or whatever - ‘Anything Goes’ to quote one song candidate!

Let us know the song you'd love to hear. It just needs to be a classic whether it's a folk ballad, country classic, a jazz standard or anything else, and it needs to have been written by someone from the U S of A!  Email your suggestions to information@southwellfolkfestival.org.uk Or you'll find a Facebook post where you can add your suggestion CLICK HERE.

And another reminder, in case you missed it...

A cover for the Lake Stage!

Although the feedback after the last few festivals has been in favour of keeping the Lake Stage open, 20 minutes of rain on Sunday this year has caused a bit of a rethink and we're happy to say that the Lake Stage audience can stay dry in 2024! We'll leave the walls open, so we can spill outside and catch some rays from the inevitable July sunshine, and not miss a minute of the action on stage. The best of both worlds we hope you'll agree.

TICKETS

A limited number of tier 2 tickets are now on sale, so get yours before we have to switch to tier 3 when they sell-out. After incredible early bird sales which saw them fly out in 4 days before we'd even announced anyone, ticket sales have continued at a phenomenal rate, boosted no doubt by the announcement that Rhiannon Giddens is jetting-in with her all-star band to Southwell (currently her only UK summer date!). We've moved to Tier 2 much much sooner than we anticipated, so grab your discounted tickets whilst they're still available.

That's all for now!

See you in July
