Firmly established as an annual event, the Southwell Gate Decorating competition is set to wow our residents and visitors alike with the creative energy and imagination that so many have put on display for the previous years.
Residents and businesses are asked to decorate their gates, arches, fences and windows with the The Gate To Southwell Festival’s theme of Europe and European culture which gives plenty of scope for design and mirrors the Festival line up which includes acts from Denmark, Holland, Spain, Austria, Eire and all countries of the U.K. as well as our usual Canadian and American friends.

Judging takes place over the Bank Holiday Weekend of May 24th-27th. Again, there will be a Trail where residents and visitors are invited to join in the fun and pick up a scoring sheet and route map from any of the businesses displaying a ‘Rate The Gates poster’ and deposit finished sheets in The Sweet Shop on King Street. The winners will receive a full family weekend ticket worth nearly £350 and will be presented with a cup, kindly donated by Kirkland & Lane, on the 9th of June at the festival site to hold for a year.
Completed Trail forms will be put into a draw for a full weekend family Teaser ticket.
