Having grown up immersed in Cornish music and studied on Newcastle University’s Folk Degree, Martha Woods has recently developed a solo act playing mostly original material, which combines some of the livelier elements of folk and traditional music (predominantly using fiddle and voice) and fuses this with electronic backing. Together the two styles of dance music really gets the crowd going while keeping direct links to its folk roots.

 

She's have previously performed as solo and with various bands at festivals such as Cornwall Folk Festival, Lowender Peran, Sidmouth Folk Festival and Festival Breizh Kernow (Brittany), as well as in venues such as the Sage Gateshead and the Hall for Cornwall. Someone new to look out for at GTSF.
