“The quality of the musicianship within this ensemble cannot be overstated!.”...and "some of the finest singing Canada has ever produced"

The Beat Magazine

“Their sound is tight, their stage presence electric...layered harmonies, rich storytelling, and serious energy”

Ottowa Life Magazine

Maggie’s Wake is a Canadian powerhouse quartet who came together in late 2022 and quickly took their home province of Ontario by storm — selling out dates on their very first "Spirit of the Season" holiday tour. Since then, they've showcased at major music conferences across Canada, the US and UK (incl. Ireland’s Your Roots Are Showing), won the 2025 CFMA for New Artist of the Year, launched a Holiday EP, and have a sophomore album on the way.

Their work is 100% original, penned by Tara Dunphy and Lindsay Schindler, and their first single, Bridget O’Brien, won the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) Songwriting Award. A real blend of folk styles and backgrounds, with a fantastic energy, expert vocals and instrumentation, all comes together for a really amazing show.

Blending the drive of classic country, the spirit of Celtic reels and jigs, the heat of Cajun twin fiddles, and the groove of world rhythms, Maggie’s Wake crafts a sound that is both deeply rooted and strikingly original. Their music is an exhilarating, genre-crossing journey that continues to evolve while staying firmly connected to its roots.

Fronted by award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tara Dunphy (The Rizdales, Luther Wright and the Wrongs) on tin whistle, flute, fiddle, and lead vocals, and renowned fiddler, composer, and author Lindsay Schindler (Rant Maggie Rant, Trent Severn) on violin and harmony vocals, with Andrew Kosty on bass and Kenneth Palmer on guitar, completing an ensemble known for its chemistry, energy, and musical depth.

Guided by the spirit of Dale Watson’s words, “You can’t grow if you rip your roots out of the ground,” Maggie’s Wake honours tradition while boldly forging its own path in contemporary roots music. Their songs, stories, and performances invite audiences into a musical world that feels timeless yet refreshingly new.
