West Country folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Seth Lakeman was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005 for ‘Kitty Jay’. It catapulted him into the forefront of the new British folk movement and his follow up was the gold-selling ‘Freedom Fields’, which was released twice in 2006. Produced by his brother Sean Lakeman, becoming Seth’s first of 6 UK Top 40 albums.
The winner of multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Seth released a stunning new studio album Make Your Mark in November 2021. Written during his enforced 18 months off the road, the album features 14 powerful new songs including the singles Higher We Aspire and title track Make Your Mark which were playlisted by BBC Radio 2.
He is playing with Benji Kirkpatrick - well known as a rhythmic driver of such outfits as Bellowhead and Faustus - and Devon singer-songwriter Alex Hart.
"Seth Lakeman has that ability to create something entirely contemporary from sounds that emerge from traditional music. The instrumentation and approach are firmly rooted in folk traditions, but the songs, themes and production resonate with modern expectations and feelings"
