The Henry Girls
Long-time favourites of GTSF, The Henry Girls return after last appearing in 2016.
They are fast becoming one of the most talked about folk/roots acts to come out of the North West of Ireland in the last decade , and they are now also developing an international reputation performing overseas, including the US.
The Henry Girls are three sisters from the beautiful village of Malin in Co. Donegal. They bring something enchanting to the folk scene; their lyrics are thoughtful, intelligent and often powerful, and the musicianship they possess is truly unique, covering a range of instruments including harp, fiddle, ukulele, accordion and piano. Most notable are their bewitching three-part harmonies.
Their performances create a sense of nostalgia as the harp and voices soothe and the lyrics inspire. This is a group who've mastered the balance of being contemporary without falling short in old-folk, rootsy charm. Their harmonies are also influenced by the vocal harmonies of singing siblings from the 1930's and 40's such as The Andrews Sisters and The Boswell sisters. They have released 6 original studio albums as well as writing and releasing original recordings and songs for children.
